Biden’s Response When Asked If He Would Back Israeli Strike On Iran’s Nuclear Sites

U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed opposition to any strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in response to Tehran’s missile attack on Israel.

When asked if he would support such retaliation, Biden simply responded, “the answer is no.”

His comments came after Iran fired approximately 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, marking its second attack since April.

These missile strikes were reportedly in retaliation for the assassinations of key Iran-allied figures, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that Iran would “pay” for the missile attack, which, while causing no significant casualties in Israel, resulted in the death of one Palestinian in the West Bank.

Despite concerns that Israel might use this opportunity to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, Biden emphasized that any Israeli response should be “proportional,” a stance echoed by G7 nations, including the U.S.’s closest allies.

Biden also reiterated full U.S. support for Israel while hinting at the possibility of new sanctions against Iran.
