Ishaku was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges related to an alleged ₦27 billion fraud, alongside co-defendant Bello Hero.

Additionally, Justice Oriji prohibited both Ishaku and his co-defendant from leaving the country without the court’s permission.

The EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, did not oppose the bail request, noting that Ishaku had previously complied with administrative bail conditions set by the commission.

The court scheduled the trial to begin on November 4, 5, and 13, 2024.

Ishaku served as governor of Taraba State from May 2015 to May 2023, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
