The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has secured victory in 30 chairmanship seats, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed just one seat.
This information was revealed in a list signed by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), AniediAbasi Ikoiwak, on Sunday.
Following this, Governor Umo Eno announced plans to swear in the newly elected chairmen on Monday, October 7, 2024.

The announcement came after AKISIEC’s decision to issue certificates of return to all elected chairmen on Sunday.
Speaking at the All Nations Christian Ministry in Eket, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of immediately inaugurating the democratically elected officials to ensure swift development in the state’s local government areas.
“Election was concluded yesterday. Results are trickling in. We are swearing in new chairmen tomorrow by 8 am. We want to thank those who have served. They have done well.
“The window we negotiated with the Federal Government was till October, and this is October. So we need to quickly swear in those chairmen so that they will start receiving their allocations and work for their people,” he said.
