A section of the Eleme Local Government Council secretariat has been set on fire.
In a phone conversation with a source, former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, an indigene of Eleme, revealed that the newly elected chairman, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the council secretariat with his councilors and supporters only to discover that part of the building had been set ablaze.
No arrests have been made yet, and the police have not released an official statement on the incident.

There is growing concern over the possibility of violence erupting in other councils across the state.
While the full details are still unclear, the arson attack occurred just days after the Rivers Local Government Elections, in which the Action Peoples Party (APP) won a sweeping victory.
