Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has explained that the creation of the state by the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, on October 1st, 1996, was driven by the need to broaden the scope of development.
The governor made this remark on Monday, October 7, in Lafia, during the public presentation of a book titled *Revealing Nasarawa at 28*.
Governor Sule emphasized that the creation of the state was not a coincidence, but a result of the resilience and determination of the state’s founding fathers.
He highlighted the significant progress made over the past 28 years and urged the people to appreciate the developmental strides achieved by their leaders.

He emphasized that the collective efforts of all stakeholders were crucial for the continued growth and progress to meet the aspirations of the populace.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the socio-economic strength of the state, particularly in areas such as agriculture, minerals development, education, and infrastructure.
Governor Sule also thanked the Federal Government for recognizing his administration’s efforts, particularly in agriculture, and commended the authors of the book for their contribution to knowledge and literature.
The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (retired), praised the late General Abacha for facilitating the creation of Nasarawa State and lauded Governor Sule for building on the progress made by his predecessors.

He noted that the authors, Zainab Sule and Ahmed Ahmed, adopted an innovative approach to documenting the state’s history, which would help preserve the cultural heritage of the “solid minerals state.”
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Launching Committee, Lt. Col. Ahmed Bello, emphasized the importance of uncovering the untold history of Nasarawa, celebrating the state’s progress, unity, and cultural heritage. He described the book as a valuable addition to the state’s history that would benefit future generations.
The book reviewer, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, highlighted the eight-chapter work’s focus on gratitude for God’s blessings in Nasarawa’s integration and development.
He stressed the importance of maintaining cultural diversity for growth, leadership integrity, and the state’s abundant natural resources. Prof. Abdul Rahman, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, urged readers and researchers to use the book as a reference material, stressing the need for data generation and usage.
In their goodwill messages, former Nasarawa governor Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau, and Chairman of Gerawa Group of Companies, Isa Gerawa, encouraged citizens to focus on nurturing the younger generation by educating them on the history and development of the state.
