BREAKING: APC Suspends Minister Of State For Petroleum Lokpobiri, Gives Reason

The All Progressives Congress (APC) executives in Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State have announced the suspension of prominent party members, including Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum, and David Lyon, the 2019 gubernatorial candidate.

Among those suspended are two commissioners from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led state government who are also APC members.

The suspensions stem from allegations of anti-party activities and factionalism within the party at the state level.

Mitin Eniekenemi, Chairman of the APC in Ekeremor, confirmed the suspension of Senator Lokpobiri and the Commissioner for Power, Engr. Karin Kumoko.

He explained that the decision followed findings from an internal disciplinary committee as outlined in Article 21.3(1) of the APC Constitution.

In Southern Ijaw, the APC executives suspended David Lyon, along with Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Peres Biewari, and six other members, citing anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

The leadership accused these individuals of undermining the party’s interests, particularly during the 2020 Bayelsa State bye-election. Ongoing investigations may reveal more about other members implicated in similar activities.
