Photo Showing Libya National Team Players In Nigerian Airport Emerge As LFF Reacts To Super Eagles Ordeal

A photo showing players of Libya national team in an airport in Nigeria has surfaced online amid the ordeal faced by super eagles players in Libya.

Nigeria defeated Libya in their AFCON 2025 qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday evening.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF announced a boycott of the return leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier against Libya, following an alleged maltreatment by the Libyan government officials at the Al Abaq airport.

The Libyan Football Federation, LFF in a statement on Monday has addressed the ordeal the Nigerian national team faced in the country saying “it was not intentional”.

The LFF rejected claims of “foul play or sabotage” against the Super Eagles players.

The federation, however, alleged that their team faced similar travel difficulties during their visit to Nigeria for the first leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier.

“It is important to highlight that just last week, our own national team faced significant challenges upon our arrival in Nigeria for the third match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification,” the statement read.

“Despite the difficulties we encountered, we did not make public accusations nor question the integrity of the Nigerian authorities.

“Football, in its essence, unites nations, and we are committed to upholding the spirit of fairness and mutual respect both on and off the field.”
