The 90th birthday anniversary lecture in honour of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) in Abuja on Friday attracted dignitaries.

Gowon served as the head of state of Nigeria from 1966 to 1975, a period marked by the devastating Nigerian Civil War.

He ascended to power following the 1966 counter-coup and was ultimately overthrown in the 1975 coup d’état.
