Fire Outbreak At Ministry Of Works Headquarters In Abuja

A fire broke out at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja, shortly after workers returned to the office on Friday.

The incident was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor. Fortunately, it was swiftly contained, preventing significant damage.

Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed, while confirming the incident, said, “A minor fire incident occurred at 11:30 am at Block A of the Ministry. 

“The incident was as a result of a spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.

“The Station Commander, Federal Fire Service, Federal Ministry of Works, Headquarters, Mr. Kekai Bekebi, informed me that there was a quick response from his team, who were able to put the situation under control by deploying available fire extinguishers. He added that a successful evacuation exercise of staff was also carried out.

“The Director, Human Resource Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi stated that no loss of document, no injuries, and no casualties were recorded, as he further commended the staff for their general conduct while the incident lasted.” 

Normal operations have since resumed, with maintenance staff cleaning up debris and restoring order in the area.
