Ndume Reacts To Tinubu’s Cabinet Reshuffle, Tells Him Ministers To Sack

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss additional underperforming ministers to expedite the implementation of his “Renewed Hope” agenda.

In a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, Ndume praised the recent reshuffling of the federal cabinet and the creation of a ministry of regional development to oversee all regional commissions in the country, calling it a positive step forward.

The lawmaker said, “More needs to be done because some ministers are still missing in action.”

President Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet on Wednesday, dismissing six ministers and appointing seven new ones, while also changing the portfolios of ten others.

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Ndume, urged President Tinubu to hold a national economic summit aimed at developing home-grown solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

He proposed that notable figures such as former finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former education minister Oby Ezekwesili, Mansur Muktar, Akinwumi Adesina, Aruma Oteh, and Tope Fasua lead the initiative.

“This national economic summit should be purely led by these eminent Nigerians, and they will come up with recommendations instead of the IMF and World Bank’s prescriptions that are harsh and hard on the ordinary citizens.

“I believe if the recommendations are good, President Tinubu will implement them, and this will help the country in no small ways,” Ndume said.

The senator praised President Tinubu’s initiative to cut the cost of governance amid economic challenges and encouraged other branches of government to follow suit.
