Manchester United Approach Sporting For Ruben Amorim After Sacking Ten Hag

Manchester United has approached Portuguese club Sporting to negotiate the signing of head coach Ruben Amorim, according to Sky Sports News.

Discussions are reportedly ongoing following United’s decision to sack manager Erik ten Hag earlier today.

Amorim, 39, is among Europe’s most sought-after young coaches and was considered a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool over the summer.

United would need to activate a release clause for the Portuguese coach, but they are prepared to do so, as per Sky Sports News.

Amorim led Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in 2021 and secured his second championship with the club last season.

This season, his team is unbeaten, sitting at the top of Liga Portugal with nine wins from nine matches.

As the club struggles in 14th place after a disappointing start to the season, former Red Devils striker and assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped in as interim manager.
