Harris and Trump are in a tight race, with the two candidates neck-and-neck.
A CBS News/YouGov poll released Sunday indicated that Harris is leading Trump nationally with 50 percent to Trump’s 49 percent, though this result falls within the margin of error.
The poll also highlighted a significant gender divide, with men favoring Trump and women leaning towards Harris. Trump leads among male voters by 54 percent to 45 percent, while Harris has the support of 55 percent of women compared to Trump’s 43 percent.
Men tend to view Trump as a stronger leader (64 percent to 50 percent), whereas women are more likely to believe that Harris possesses the necessary “mental and cognitive health” to be president.
According to a separate analysis from FiveThirtyEight’s daily election poll tracker, Harris holds a slight edge in the national polls, leading Trump by 1.4 percentage points as of Sunday. However, the long-term trend shows the race tightening, with the gap narrowing from 1.7 points the previous week.
The outcome of the election is likely to be decided in seven key swing states.
FiveThirtyEight’s tracker indicates that Harris maintains a narrow lead in Michigan and Wisconsin, while Trump has a slight advantage in Pennsylvania and Nevada and a more substantial lead in North Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia.
In all seven states, however, the candidates remain within two points of each other, well within the margin of error, making each state a tossup just days before the election.
