On Sunday, tensions rose as Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, engaged with stakeholders and homeowners in Victoria Island, Lagos, to discuss the impact of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project on their properties.
Federal lawmakers joined Umahi as part of a broader inspection of ongoing national infrastructure projects.
During the Q&A session, a woman, who introduced herself as a campaigner for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election, claimed that the coastal road had been redirected through her Lagos estate, leading to the demolition of all her properties despite her possessing valid government-issued certificates and approvals.
In response, Umahi accused her of organizing protests to halt the project, an accusation the woman, a Tinubu supporter, firmly denied.
