The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in all 18 chairmanship positions during the Cross River State local government elections held on Saturday, November 2.
Dr. Ekong Boco, the Chairman of the Cross River State Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) and the election’s returning officer, announced the results at the Commission’s headquarters in Calabar on Sunday.
The APC triumphed in every local government area, including Abi, Odukpani, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Ogoja, Akamkpa, Bekwarra, Etung, Biase, Boki, Calabar Municipality, Obubra, Yakurr, Yala, Obanliku, Obudu, Ikom, and Calabar South.

Certificates of Return were promptly issued to the victorious candidates following the announcement by Dr. Boco.
Governor Bassey Otu extended his congratulations to the winners, labeling the elections as peaceful and expressing optimism that the newly elected chairpersons would work in line with his vision for the state.
“We have a well-defined vision for the state, and we believe the new leadership at the local government level would understand that they must align with the state government’s agenda and exhibit unwavering dedication to realizing good governance,” he stated.
Nine opposition parties, including the PDP and Labour Party, took part in the elections; however, they did not present candidates for all 196 local council wards across the state’s 18 local government areas.
