Eguavoen Invites 23 For Benin, Rwanda AFCON Games [FULL LIST]

Galatasaray’s star forward, Victor Osimhen, makes a return to the squad after missing the last game against Libya due to injury.

Osimhen showcased his recovery with a goal in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor on October 19 and then scored the decisive goal in their derby win against Besiktas on October 28.

Also back in the squad is Real Sociedad’s Umar Sadiq, returning after a period away from international duty.

These matches will complete the final rounds of qualifiers for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Nigeria will face Benin Republic in a Matchday 5 fixture on November 14 at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny, starting at 8 p.m. Nigerian time.

The Super Eagles will then host Rwanda for Matchday 6 on November 18 at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

With two matches remaining, Nigeria currently leads Group D with 10 points, following the Confederation of African Football’s decision to award Nigeria three points and three goals after the team’s game with Libya was abandoned.

The Super Eagles had refused to play after being stranded for hours at a remote Libyan airport, where they faced challenging conditions, including lack of food and internet access.

The situation was resolved after diplomatic efforts and social media calls for assistance.
