The national grid has failed for the second time in just three days, plunging millions of households nationwide into darkness.
The power collapse, which occurred at around 11:28 AM on Thursday, marks the second this week and the 10th in 2024.
A check on the Independent System Operator (ISO), an independent arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed that all power plants connected to the grid were not generating electricity by 12:00 PM.

The ISO’s website indicated that the generation plants produced an average of 2,323 megawatts of electricity at 11:00 AM but showed a reading of 0.00 MW by 12:00 PM.
At the time of filing this report, TCN had not provided an explanation for the collapse.
Confirming the outage, Jos Disco stated that the power interruption within its franchise area was due to the loss of supply from the national grid.
“The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred this morning at about 11:28 hours of today, Thursday, 7th November 2024, hence the loss of power supply on all our feeders.”
“We hope to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is restored back to normalcy.”
