Obaseki Dissolves Cabinet

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State dissolved the State Executive Council on Friday, ahead of Monday’s inauguration of his successor, Governor-elect Okpebholo.

Obaseki, who was first sworn in on November 12, 2016, is set to hand over the reins to Okpebholo on Tuesday, November 12.

The dissolution followed a valedictory session at the Government House in Benin, the state capital. In his address, Governor Obaseki thanked the council members for their contributions in advancing his administration’s vision of “making Edo great again.”

He also expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support, prayers, and collaboration throughout his tenure.

Outgoing commissioners and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) took the opportunity to present awards and gifts to the governor in recognition of his leadership.
