States Who Voted For MC Oluomo To Become NURTW President

Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo and former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Chapter, was elected the new National President of the union on Saturday.

Akinsanya was the sole candidate in the election, which took place at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along Osogbo/Ikirun Road.

Delegates from the four South-West states—Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti—participated in the voting process.

The election, held during the Union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference, was monitored by the acting National President, Aliyu Issa-Ore.

In his address, Issa-Ore emphasized that the union’s constitution mandates that the zone designated to fill the National President position should select and present their candidate to the national body.

Represented by Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance at the National Headquarters in Abuja, Issa-Ore affirmed that the South-West zone had adhered to the union’s constitutional requirements in electing Akinsanya as President.

In addition, the delegates elected Tajudeen Agbede as Vice President for the South-West and Akeem Adeosun as a Trustee from the zone.

After taking the oath of office, Akinsanya, surrounded by family and associates, called for peace and unity within the union, vowing to work towards fostering harmony among its members.

Speaking further, he said, “I have forgiven everyone that offends me and I wished those I offend would forgive me as well.

“This is our union and we must be committed to its preservation. We will not allow anyone to destroy our means of livelihood.”
