The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the five nominees for the 2024 Africa Player of the Year Award, with Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman leading the prestigious list.
Lookman, a forward for the Super Eagles, has made the shortlist alongside other top players from the continent.
However, his fellow Nigerian and Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, did not make it to the final selection.

The other nominees for the coveted award are: Simon Adingra of Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi (last year’s runner-up), and South Africa’s goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
In addition to the Player of the Year award, CAF also announced nominations across several other categories, including Goalkeeper of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Club of the Year, and National Team of the Year.
The annual awards ceremony, designed to celebrate African football excellence, highlights outstanding performances across both club and national competitions, culminating in the crowning of the continent’s best male and female players.
CAF has confirmed a total of seven categories in the Men’s category for 2024, with the top performers in each category set to compete for the prestigious honors.
