Following his recent invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed confidence in his innocence, stating that he is not intimidated by the ongoing investigation.
He also dismissed what he described as a politically motivated “media trial,” claiming it stems from opposition to his support for the current Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Okowa made these comments during a visit by Delta North leaders, led by Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, to his residence in Asaba, the state capital.

He emphasized that he has nothing to hide and is fully prepared to defend himself against any allegations.
The group also took the opportunity to express their confidence in Okowa’s leadership, passing a vote of support for his tenure as governor.
Among those present at the gathering were Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, former Deputy Governor Benjamin Elue, members of the State House of Assembly, commissioners, and other appointees. However, the serving senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, was notably absent.
This visit comes two weeks after Okowa’s invitation and brief detention by the EFCC over allegations of misappropriating N1.3 trillion during his time in office.
Since his release, he has been receiving numerous solidarity visits from political groups and leaders across the state.
