The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has confirmed that Bianca Ojukwu remains a member of the party despite her recent appointment as a minister by President Bola Tinubu.
Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs following a cabinet reshuffle by President Tinubu in October.
Although she is not a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), her new role has sparked speculation about her political affiliations.
However, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Ezeokenwa, whose leadership of APGA was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court the same day, clarified that Bianca Ojukwu has not left the party.

“I called on the president and I commend him on that appointment. She (Bianca) is a member of APGA, she is a BoT member of the party till date, she has not resigned her membership of the party. She had that appointment as a member of the party,” Ezeokenwa said.
The APGA chairman highlighted that the party approved Ojukwu’s acceptance of the ministerial position.
He emphasized that the president’s action aligns with his long-standing advocacy for members of opposition parties to be given the opportunity to serve in Tinubu’s government.
“The earliest call I did to the president is to ensure now that you have won the election and the Supreme Court has affirmed your election as the president of Nigeria, it is now time to close ranks because the people that can help you achieve your manifesto are not domiciled within your party, you have technocrats that are in other political parties,” he said.
Ezeokenwa stated that despite being the leader of an opposition party, he genuinely hopes for President Tinubu’s success, as it is in the best interest of Nigerians.
The APGA leader emphasized that Ojukwu’s appointment as a minister is a positive development for the opposition party, which, he asserted, is open to being part of an inclusive government.
In a ruling on Wednesday, the Supreme Court affirmed Ezeokenwa as the legitimate chairman of APGA and also imposed a N20 million fine on Edozie Njoku for pursuing a baseless lawsuit at the FCT High Court in Bwari.
