Several members of the Nigerian Armed Forces retirees, under the umbrella of the Coalition of Military Pensioners, staged a protest on Thursday morning, effectively shutting down the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.
The retirees were voicing their grievances over the non-payment of their 20% to 28% salary increment for the period from January to November 2024.

The retired military officers, who had gathered from various chapters, expressed their frustration with the Federal Government’s failure to settle their entitlements.
Their demands included the payment of palliative allowances for the period from October 2023 to November 2024, an additional N32,000 to be added to their pensions, the lump sum payment of Security Debarment Allowance (SDA), and the refund of deductions made from the pensions of soldiers medically discharged, among other issues.
