Tinubu Cancels Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has reversed the earlier appointment of Yazid Danfulani as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).

This decision was disclosed in a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued on Friday.

The release was titled “President Tinubu announces key appointments into NUC, NERDC, NEPAD, renews the appointment of Fatima Shinkafi in SMDF.”

The statement clarified that Danfulani’s appointment had been canceled due to “no vacancy in the agency,” and Fatima Shinkafi would resume her position as Executive Secretary.

Shinkafi, who was originally appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been recognized as a key figure in driving reforms within the solid minerals sector.

“The President has approved the renewal of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi’s appointment as Executive Secretary of SMDF/PAGMI.

She was first appointed by President Buhari and has played a significant role in transforming the solid minerals sector,” the statement said.

It further explained that the earlier announcement regarding Yazid Danfulani’s appointment had been rescinded because the position was already filled.

In addition to this, President Tinubu made several other key appointments, including the appointment of Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu as Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Prof. Ribadu, a noted expert in veterinary reproduction, has served as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.

Prof. Salisu Shehu was also appointed Executive Secretary of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and Jabiru Tsauri was named National Coordinator of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
