Some Nigerians had planned protests in some locations in Nigeria for the support of human rights activist, Dele Farotimi over the legal battle between the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti.
Organisers of the protest, the Take It Back Movement on Monday, vowed to go ahead with its planned protests in Ekiti, Lagos, Abuja, London and Canada.
The latest development follows a statement made last Friday by Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, in which he accused Farotimi of attempting to tarnish his long-established reputation built over years of hard work and dedication.

Babalola, who revealed he had filed a petition with the police to investigate defamatory claims made by Farotimi in his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, emphasized that the police’s decision to charge Farotimi in court was necessary for the law to take its course.
As a result of the petition, the Ekiti State police arrested Farotimi in Lagos on Tuesday. He was subsequently arraigned before the Ekiti State Magistrates Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, facing charges related to defaming Babalola.
According to the police, Farotimi made the allegations during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast, hosted by well-known journalist Seun Okinbaloye, where he accused Babalola of corrupting the judiciary.
In a related development, a group known as the Justice for Afe Babalola Legacy (JABL) has issued a warning to protesters planning demonstrations in Abuja, Lagos, and Ekiti in connection with the ongoing legal dispute, urging them to refrain from such actions or face serious consequences.
