Gary O’Neil has been dismissed as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers after a string of four consecutive Premier League losses, according to reports on Sunday.
The club currently sits second from bottom in the table, with just nine points from 16 matches, following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to fellow relegation-threatened side Ipswich.
Tensions flared after the final whistle, as Rayan Ait-Nouri was shown a second yellow card, and Matheus Cunha had to be restrained from further altercations.

O’Neil, 41, was appointed in August 2023 after Julen Lopetegui’s departure, and he signed a new four-year contract with the club this past August.
In his first season, Wolves finished 14th, but they now find themselves battling relegation.
Frustration also spilled over in Monday’s loss to West Ham, when Mario Lemina clashed with Jarrod Bowen after the match, leading to the Wolves midfielder being stripped of the captaincy.
On Saturday, Wolves were defeated by Jack Taylor’s late header, despite taking an early lead from an own goal by Matt Doherty.
After the match and the post-game scuffles, O’Neil commented that his players needed to “take some responsibility.”
“We deal with things like that very, very seriously, as you saw last week,” O’Neil said.
“It’s annoying in that we’ve got enough to do at this moment in time, we’ve got enough to fix without me having to spend time on things that go on off the pitch.
“So the players do need to take some responsibility. But I’ll help them with all of it so we get back to work on Monday morning.”
