Nigerian Governor Declares Two-Week Holiday For Civil Servants

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has declared two separate two-week holidays for civil servants in the state to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

The governor made the announcement during a press briefing at the Government House in Makurdi on Tuesday.

He stated that the holidays will begin on December 24 and end on January 6, 2025.

Alia explained that the purpose of the extended break is to give state workers the opportunity to spend quality time with their families during the festive season.

Additionally, he encouraged civil servants to use this time to participate in farming activities, contributing to food security in the state.

He said, “I urge you to seize the opportunity of this long holiday to attend to your agricultural pursuit by engaging in farming activities so that there will be abundance of food in the state”.

Alia stated that essential services such as banks, energy providers, and security agencies will remain unaffected by the extended holiday.

He encouraged the people of the state to continue embracing the values of love and peace, while staying dedicated to the progress of a better Benue State.
