The Federal Government has announced that it will conduct a comprehensive investigation into Wednesday’s accidental bombing, which claimed the lives of 10 individuals in the Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa villages of Silame Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement on Friday by Ahmad Aliyu, the Press Secretary to the Governor of Sokoto State.
Aliyu stated that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, made this commitment during a condolence visit to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in Sokoto.
Matawalle expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident in the two villages and assured that a thorough investigation would be carried out to determine the cause.
He also expressed confidence that justice would be served in the matter.
“Mr President is worried by the unfortunate incident and he asked me to come and condole you over what happened,” Matawalle said.

He also mentioned that military airstrikes sometimes target incorrect locations due to inaccurate information provided during operations.
The minister confirmed that security reports indicated the area where the incident occurred was under the control of the Lakurawa bandits.
In response, Gov. Aliyu urged the military to enhance their information gathering and surveillance to prevent targeting the wrong locations.
He praised the military and other security agencies for their dedication to ensuring the safety of the state.
Gov. Aliyu also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his concern regarding the accidental bombing of the two villages in the state.
