The Rivers State House of Assembly has expressed strong disapproval over Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s presentation of the 2025 Appropriations Bill to the three-member Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, a supporter of the governor.
This issue dominated Tuesday’s plenary, where the House’s Judicial Committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol, presented the Court of Appeal’s ruling that upheld both the legitimacy of the House and the Speakership of Martin Amaewhule.
Following the presentation, the Deputy Speaker condemned the governor for failing to comply with the court’s verdict.

Two other lawmakers also voiced their outrage over the governor’s actions. One member, Smart Adoki, even suggested that the judgment be forwarded to security agencies for further action.
In his comments, the Speaker expressed concern over the governor’s persistent disregard for the rule of law.
On Monday, Governor Fubara had presented the 2025 budget proposal, valued at ₦1.1 trillion, to the Assembly led by Oko-Jumbo.
Fubara described the 2025 budget as a blueprint for building on the successes of his administration in 2024 while laying the foundation for sustainable development.
The governor also highlighted the performance of the ₦800 billion 2024 budget, noting that the state had achieved significant milestones, particularly in economic growth and revenue generation.
