The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has announced that the requirements for the extradition of pro-Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa to Nigeria have been submitted to the Government of Finland.
“Well, I’m sure he is cooling off somewhere,” the defence chief said on Channels Television‘s 2024 Year-In-Review programme on December 31, 2024.
“Legal action is going to be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say much about that but I’m happy he has been arrested.
“The Federal Government has actually forwarded most of the requirements to the Finnish Government. So, I’m sure the right thing will be done.”

The defense chief also stated that the sit-at-home orders promoted by Ekpa and his associates in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone are losing their impact due to the military’s ongoing clearance operations.
In November 2024, Finnish authorities arrested Ekpa, along with four others, on charges related to terrorism, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.
The district court in Lahti, Finland, ordered Ekpa’s detention on probable cause, citing his public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent in Nigeria.
The separatist leader is accused of using social media to disseminate propaganda supporting the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group campaigning for the secession of southeastern Nigeria.
