Tony Book, former captain and manager of Manchester City, has passed away at the age of 90, the Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.
As a right-back, Book captained City to four major trophies, including the English league title and the European Cup Winners’ Cup, during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Later, he guided the team to victory in the League Cup as manager in 1976.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions, Book was appointed honorary president of the club and life president of the official supporters’ club.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak paid tribute, stating: “For nearly sixty years, Tony helped shape Manchester City—not just through his roles as player, captain, and manager, but in the way he carried himself.
His aspirations for the club were only matched by his incredible humility regarding his own immense achievements.”
Al Mubarak continued, “Tony’s commitment to City meant he was still performing club duties earlier this season. I will deeply miss seeing him at our matches.”
