President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Folashade Arinola Adekaiyaoja as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
This appointment, made through a presidential approval, is part of efforts to enhance the morale of DSS operatives and address emerging security threats.
The presidential directive also seeks to restructure the DSS to improve operational efficiency, aligning it with the agency’s original organizational framework.

The DSS is traditionally structured to include three Deputy Directors-General.
Adekaiyaoja, a Kogi-born intelligence officer, brings extensive experience from her various roles within the service.
Her appointment as the second-in-command follows a recommendation by the Director-General of the DSS, endorsed by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The president affirmed that the appointment adheres to the agency’s regulations and marks a historic step for the DSS. T
his move follows Tinubu’s August 2024 appointment of Oluwastosin Ajayi as DSS Director-General after the retirement of Yusuf Bichi, who had led the agency for over four years.
In a statement delivered through the NSA, President Tinubu acknowledged the current security challenges and emphasized the need for security agencies to collaborate for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
