Kenya Approves Visa-Free Entry For All African Citizens, Blocks Two Countries

Kenya will now allow citizens from nearly all African countries to visit without prior approval.

According to a BBC story, Kenya’s cabinet has issued a new regulation allowing citizens of practically all African countries to visit without prior authorisation.

A cabinet statement reaffirmed that all African nations will be exempt from the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirement, with the exception of Somalia and Libya, due to security concerns.

Most African citizens will be able to enter and remain for up to two months without a visa under the revamped approach.

Furthermore, members of the East African Community—which includes Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi—will be allowed to stay for up to six months in accordance with the bloc’s policies.

Although no specific date for policy implementation has been established, Kenya intends to deploy an upgraded process that will allow for instant travel approval, with a maximum processing period of 72 hours.
