Although Aisha was not in the area when the incident took place, she was confronted upon her return, publicly humiliated, and bound by furious community members who poured petrol on her and were about to set her on fire.

Authorities intervened just in time to save her life.

She was arrested and charged in court, but human rights activists stepped in, prompting a thorough investigation that uncovered that the victims had actually died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to generator fumes.

In an interview with ITV Radio shared on Friday, Aisha Suleiman, after being exonerated, denied ever preparing pepper soup for anyone.

She explained that tensions had developed after she ended her relationship with her late boyfriend, and his father had forbidden her from visiting their home.

Aisha stated that on the day of the tragic incident, she was in Iyakpi, while the deaths took place in Afashio.

Now, there are calls for legal action against the friend of Aisha’s late boyfriend, who was responsible for raising the alarm.
