‘I Can Now Take Care Of My Nine Children Properly’ – Fani-Kayode Speaks After Acquittal

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has expressed relief after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) cleared him of charges in a medical forgery case.

He said, “I thank God for my family and my children. Four criminal cases by the EFCC in the space of the last 18 years has been quite an ordeal for me because it hurt my family, my career, my business, my everything.

“So, today, we got the fourth and final one done. By the grace of God, I can now live my life, face my family, take care of my children properly, my nine children.”

On Tuesday, a Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, acquitted and discharged Femi Fani-Kayode of medical forgery charges.

Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe ruled in favor of the no case submission filed by Fani-Kayode’s lawyer, Norrison Quakers (SAN), stating that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against him.

The judge noted that the prosecution did not present key witnesses, including those who allegedly received money from Fani-Kayode or the lawyer who claimed the defendant instructed his firm to submit medical reports to the Federal High Court.

Fani-Kayode had been facing a 12-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing him of using forged medical reports during his prosecution for a suspected N4.9 billion fraud.

The former minister denied the charges.
