A Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for February 18 regarding a lawsuit filed by vulnerable individuals against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and others, challenging their arrests and detention.
Justice James Omotosho, while adjourning the case on Tuesday, also ordered that court papers be served to the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Attorney General of the Federation.

Earlier, the applicants’ lawyer, Usman Chamo, told the court that his clients were still facing harassment in the FCT, emphasizing that Wike had “declared war on street begging” in the area.
In response, the lawyer for the Department of State Security Service, A.K. Karobo-Tamuno, informed the court that they had submitted a counter affidavit, urging the court to dismiss the lawsuit for lacking merit and substance.
