Irv Gotti Is Dead

Music producer and Murder Inc. founder Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., known as Irv Gotti, has passed away at the age of 54, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed, although he had previously suffered a minor stroke and dealt with diabetes-related health issues.

Gotti gained fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s, playing a pivotal role in hip-hop and R&B music.

He worked with artists such as Ja Rule, Ashanti, and DMX, producing some of the era’s most iconic tracks.

In 2003, Gotti’s career was temporarily derailed when federal authorities raided Murder Inc.’s headquarters as part of an investigation into alleged connections with drug kingpin Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff. Gotti and his brother were charged with money laundering but were eventually acquitted.

Known for blending hip-hop beats with melodic hooks, Gotti’s production style influenced many rap and R&B crossover hits between 2001 and 2004.

He produced major hits like “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny” with Ja Rule and Jennifer Lopez, as well as “Always on Time” with Ja Rule and Ashanti’s solo hits, including “Foolish” and “Mesmerize.”

Gotti also signed Vanessa Carlton to a record deal and produced her 2007 album Heroes & Thieves. In addition to his work with other artists, he released several albums under his own name.
