Tunisia President Sacks Finance Minister

Tunisia’s President, Kais Saied, has dismissed his finance minister and appointed a magistrate, Michket Slama Khaldi, to replace her.

The announcement was made on Facebook late Wednesday into Thursday, accompanied by photos of Khaldi taking the oath of office.

The presidency did not provide further details or mention the previous minister, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia. Khaldi, who previously led a national commission focused on recovering embezzled public funds, now takes on the country’s finance responsibilities.

Tunisia has faced ongoing shortages of essential goods like milk, sugar, and flour in recent years, and there has also been a shortage of domestic gas cylinders used for cooking and heating.
