The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Shogunle, to lead the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), Elections Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and the Safe School Protection Squad.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Friday.

As part of the IGP’s efforts to enhance security and tackle crime on Nigeria’s inland waterways, CSP Chima Ogarashi has been appointed as the new Force Marine Officer (FMO).
The statement highlighted that the newly appointed SIS head, CP Shogunle, is a seasoned officer with extensive experience in operations, Public Relations, and various other professional certifications. He will guide the SIS in addressing security challenges and also manage the Elections Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Safe School Protection Squad.
CSP Chima Ogarashi, who assumes the role of FMO, will oversee a vital section of the Force, drawing from his expertise in maritime security and the enforcement of maritime laws.
Adejobi emphasized that these significant appointments come at a pivotal time, with the Force preparing to launch 25 newly acquired gunboats and exploring further initiatives to enhance maritime safety equipment aimed at bolstering security operations on Nigeria’s waterways.
He added that the acquisition of these strategic assets is a proactive step by the Nigeria Police to ensure public safety and boost confidence in maritime security.
The Inspector-General of Police also reassured the public of the Police Force’s ongoing commitment to effectively address any security threats.
