Kwankwaso Shares Details Of Meeting With Aregbesola In Lagos

Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, recently visited the former Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, at his Lagos home ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The two met on Saturday amidst growing demands for a strong opposition to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

Kwankwaso shared details of the meeting on X, stating that they discussed national matters.

“This evening, I had the pleasure to visit the former Governor of Osun State and former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at his residence in Lagos.

“The meeting afforded us the opportunity to engage in discussions on national politics, governance, and the future of Nigeria’s democratic landscape.”

Rauf Aregbesola, who served two terms as the governor of Osun State, had a fallout with President Tinubu over the re-election bid of his successor, Gboyega Oyetola.

Oyetola, who governed Osun from 2018 to 2022, lost his bid for a second term to Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

After losing control of the state, Oyetola was appointed as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy in President Tinubu’s administration.

Meanwhile, Kwankwaso was the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections.
