Atiku, Tambuwal, Imoke In Closed-Door Meeting With Obasanjo

On Monday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation to visit his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, at the latter’s hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

Atiku was accompanied by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, Senator Abdul Ningi, and former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal.

The purpose of the meeting remains unclear, but it comes at a time when opposition politicians are reportedly strategizing on how to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from May 1999 to May 2007. He was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023, finishing second behind President Bola Tinubu of the APC, who won the election.

At 78, Atiku has been pursuing the presidency for over three decades.
