The House of Representatives has scheduled February 26 for a public hearing on the tax reform bills, following their passage for a second reading by both chambers of the National Assembly.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the decision during Tuesday’s plenary, stating that the hearing would gather public input on the proposed reforms.
To facilitate this, the House has formed a 36-member Special Committee to oversee the session, which will bring in expertise on tax administration and the potential benefits of the tax reform proposal.
The Committee, as stated by Speaker Abbas, will be chaired by Abiodun Faleke (APC, Lagos), with Seidu Abdullahi, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, serving as his deputy.
Other members of the committee include Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Nicholas Mutu, Fred Agedi, Idu Igariwey, among others.
