Peter Obi’s Ally Joins APC

Valentine Ozigbo, a former governorship candidate for the Labour Party in Anambra State, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made the switch on Thursday at his ward in Amesi, just a day after resigning from the Labour Party.

Ozigbo, who is planning to run for governor again in Anambra, resigned from the LP on Wednesday.

In a statement he personally signed, Ozigbo explained that his departure was motivated by his “unwavering commitment” to the broader vision for the state.

He mentioned that he had informed the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, about his decision, as a gesture of respect for Obi’s leadership and their shared principles throughout the journey.

Ozigbo emphasized that his entry into politics was never about personal ambition but about believing in the immense potential of the people. Ozigbo, who had been an ally of Obi, had also contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the next Anambra governorship election for November.
