The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions has dismissed a petition filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central, which accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.
Senator Neda Imasuen, the Committee Chairman, announced this decision on Wednesday during a probe hearing involving Akpoti-Uduaghan at the National Assembly.
Imasuen described the petition as “dead on arrival,” citing a violation of Order 40 of the Senate Standing Orders.

Imasuen explained that Akpoti-Uduaghan had signed the petition herself, rather than having it endorsed by another person, making it procedurally invalid.
He also noted that the issues raised in the petition were already being addressed in court, thus making them subjudice.
Although the committee’s session was scheduled to begin at 2 pm, it did not start until 2:58 pm, after waiting for both Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate spokesman Yemi Adaramodu. Adaramodu arrived at 2:50 pm, but Akpoti-Uduaghan did not attend the hearing.
