Tinubu Appoints Officers For Federal University, Abeokuta, Others

President Bola Tinubu has appointed key officials for the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Yauri, Kebbi State.

Prof. Fatiu Arogundade has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Abeokuta.

Dr. Obayomi Olukayode Gregory is the new Registrar, Mrs. Adedokun Omolola Olufunso has been named Bursar, and Dr. Idiat Odunola Agboola will serve as the university’s Librarian.

This information was provided by the President’s spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in a statement.

Arogundade, a Professor of Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and former Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Ijanikin, brings over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration.

He is a Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology and has led medical research and academic reforms, securing significant research grants from 2012 to 2023.

Gregory, the new Registrar, previously served as Deputy Registrar at the National Mathematical Centre in Abuja. Olufunso, a Chartered Accountant, was the Deputy Bursar at Obafemi Awolowo University, while Agboola, the new Librarian, was an Associate Professor of Library Science at the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta.

President Tinubu encouraged the newly appointed officers to provide visionary leadership and establish a strong foundation for the growth and development of the university.

He expressed confidence in their ability to leverage their collective expertise to ensure the institution, which was established in 2023, trains world-class medical professionals.

In a similar move, Tinubu has appointed Prof. Sa’adu Umar as the Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Yauri, Kebbi. Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed has been named Registrar, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Alkali as Bursar, and Mrs. Maimuna Ahmed as Librarian.

Umar, a Professor of Agricultural Extension and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, brings valuable experience to the position.

Ahmed, the new Registrar, was formerly Deputy Registrar at the Federal Polytechnic in Nasarawa and has held various roles at the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Potiskum, Yobe.

Alkali, a former Dean at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, and Ahmed, the current Librarian at the Niger State College of Nursing Sciences, complete the leadership team.

The tenure of the principal officers at the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Yauri is set at five years with no possibility of extension, as outlined in the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023.

The Federal College of Education (Technical) in Yauri, established by an Act of the National Assembly, offers full-time courses in teaching and training across a range of disciplines, including technology, applied science, arts, social sciences, humanities, and management.
