Lagos Assembly Speaks On APC Members Alleged Mass Defection

The Lagos State House of Assembly has refuted online reports claiming that 25 of its members are planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, the Assembly described the allegations as “completely false and baseless.”

The denial follows recent online speculation, with an unnamed blog spreading claims of an impending defection.

The statement also noted that similar rumors had circulated during the Assembly’s recent leadership crisis, where 27 members were falsely linked to a possible switch to the Labour Party (LP).

“To set the record straight, no APC member of the Lagos State House of Assembly is considering defection,” the statement clarified.

It further emphasized that, as committed progressives, members acknowledge challenges but are dedicated to resolving them through lawful and democratic means.

The Assembly assured the public that the party’s leadership is actively addressing any outstanding issues and urged Lagos residents to ignore the misleading reports, which they believe are intended to cause unnecessary tension.
