Similar to the House of Representatives, the Senate has approved President Tinubu’s state of emergency proclamation in Rivers State, utilizing its constitutional authority.
This approval allows the President to implement emergency measures, subject to a review within six months.

As mandated by the Constitution, a joint committee from both chambers of the National Assembly will oversee the administration of Rivers State during the emergency.
