Nigeria Vs Zimbabwe Full Time Match Report

Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup took a hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Despite Victor Osimhen scoring in the 74th minute, Zimbabwe equalized in the 90th minute, denying the Super Eagles a crucial victory.

After a 2-0 win against Rwanda, Nigeria aimed to improve their qualification chances, having struggled in their previous four matches.

At the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Nigeria created numerous early opportunities but were thwarted by Zimbabwe’s strong defense.

Nigeria pressed for a goal, but Zimbabwe’s defense remained resilient. However, in the 74th minute, Osimhen converted a cross from Moses Simon to give Nigeria the lead.

Zimbabwe responded quickly, nearly scoring immediately after Nigeria’s goal, with only the crossbar preventing them.

Nigeria then missed a chance to extend their lead when Wilfred Ndidi’s shot was off target.

They were then punished for this missed opportunity when Tawanda Chirewa scored past goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the 90th minute, securing a draw for Zimbabwe.
