Rivers Sole Administrator Suspends Fubara’s Appointees

Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has implemented an immediate suspension of all political appointees and office holders in the state.

A statement released on Wednesday by the Administrator’s Chief of Staff confirmed that this action was taken under the authority delegated to Ibas by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The suspension encompasses a wide range of officials, including:

  • The Secretary to the State Government (SSG)
  • The Chief of Staff
  • All commissioners
  • Chairpersons and members of boards, agencies, commissions, and parastatals
  • All Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.

The suspended officials are required to hand over their duties to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

In situations where a Permanent Secretary is not present, the most senior Director or Head of Administration is to assume responsibility.

This directive is effective as of Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
