Delta State College Of Nursing Sciences Takes Action On Student Over ‘Na Your Mama’ Viral Video On First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has issued a disciplinary query to student nurse Osato Edobor for allegedly recording and posting an “unauthorised” video on social media during First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to Delta State.

A letter addressed to Edobor, signed by the institution’s provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, and dated March 27, 2025, was shared by journalist Oseni Rufai on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

The letter accuses Edobor of a “malicious act” for recording herself singing and posting an “unofficial response” to a song during the First Lady’s arrival at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba.

The event was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where professional kits were distributed to midwives.

The institution cited a violation of its Student Handbook, specifically disciplinary action for punishable offenses, and directed Edobor to provide a written explanation within 24 hours.

This disciplinary action follows a viral video where nursing students appeared to reject the First Lady’s title of “mother” during the event.

The students responded with “Na your mama be this” (“This is your mother”) when the MC introduced Oluremi Tinubu as “everyone’s mother.”

The video has generated widespread reactions, with many attributing the students’ response to growing dissatisfaction with the country’s economic hardship and insecurity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
