Abure Sends Strong Warning To Obi, Otti

In his first public statement following the Supreme Court’s ruling last Friday, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, announced today, Monday, that there is no leadership void within the party.

He issued this statement during a public address before the National Executive Committee meeting at the party’s secretariat.

According to him, the Supreme Court’s verdict on party supremacy was unambiguous, emphasizing that internal matters of political parties are their own affairs.

Abure also indirectly criticized the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and Governor Alex Otti, accusing them of betraying the Labour Party.

He said, “Tell them that there is no vacancy in our party. In the Labour Party, we don’t betray our candidates even though some betray us after giving them tickets.

“We also want to urge those who have been deceived by the last week’s misleading interpretation of the Supreme Court judgment to disregard the speculation. I remain the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

“Again, the Labour Party Constitution does not recognise the setting up of a caretaker committee for party affairs.”
